Well Fuck.

Mediafire suspended my account. I throw innumerable insults in ancient tongues and immemorial curses in their direction. I am royally pissed beyond compare at the whole filesharing situation; mediafire seemed to be a last bastion of freedom, but it may look like the only place safe left is p2p networks like Soulseek and even their days may be numbered.

I am not quitting however but am instead creating a new account minus any major label connected files, with filenames abbreviated, scrambled, etc. Please be patient while I re-upload from this month backwards. If this happens again there may be an even longer break when I switch file services (unfortunately all the other ones are shit in other ways).

Seriously bullshit. Glad you aren't throwing in the towel!

Glad to see others are sticking it out too. Mine got wiped as well. It's all bullshit but I'd rather just keep forging ahead and have my account frozen monthly than just fold. There's always more albums to be posted and new kids coming around. Keep it up.

I feel your pain man. I just had a complaint from Mediafire about a single file that I was sharing from Caetano Veloso. Then, I got my blog and see that my entire post was set to draft because Blogger received a notification by the DMCA. The only way I could get my post back up was to remove the file, even though the Mediafire link was suspended.

Don't these bastards get that we are promoting the artist's material on our blogs free of charge. Back in the 60,s bands would have killed for this kind of free exposure, but nowadays everyone looks at us like we're criminals.

Looking into alternative file-sharing services myself. do you have any thoughts of good alternative?

Regards,

Kevin

I'd rather keep getting good hard-to-find content from musicians that don't care or even support their files being shared than have nothing at all. There will always be easy ways to steal bigger stuff. Your blog brings your perspective to it, and I value that more than digging around p2p services for things I already know I'm looking for.

I know this is a late response, being that I've just stumbled on to this great floating iceberg! Amazing variety and keeping the human by adding artwork while we commit such an inhuman act! Thank you!
